【Latter Festival Kaishokazari-kokai Schedule 2024 (confirmation required)】
Latter Festival Kaishokazari-kokai 2024 will be held from Sunday, July 21st to Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024. However, the schedule varies from yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns), and some yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns) will be held from Saturday, July 20th.

Latter Festival Kaishokazari-kokai (会所飾り公開(前祭)) of Gion Matsuri Festival (祇園祭) is held every year during Latter Festival Yoiyama from July 21st to July 23rd. However, the schedule varies by yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns), some yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns) held it from July 20th, the day before Latter Festival Yoiyama. The first day starts a little later, and from the second day on, most yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns) start in the morning. In Latter Festival Kaishokazari-kokai, the kazariseki (decoration stand) is set up at the kaisho (meeting hall) in yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns), and valuable items such as the deity of Yamahoko float and the luxurious kesohin (decoration) are open to the public. By the way, Kitakannon Yama is not held. The collection of the deity of Yamahoko float and the luxurious kesohin can be seen from a distance or not during Latter Festival Yamahoko-Junko (Float Procession, Yamaboko Parade) on July 24th, but you can see it up close in Latter Festival Kaishokazari-kokai. In addition, during Latter Festival Yoiyama, you can walk around yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns) and buy Chimaki and collect the red seal (Goshuin stamp). By the way, you can also enjoy Gion-bayashi (Gion Matsuri music) that is played in the evenings at Yamahoko floats (Kitakannon Yama, Minamikannon Yama, Taka Yama and Ofune Hoko) that have Hayashi-kata (music group).

★The kaisho (meeting hall) of yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns) is also called “choie”, and is built on a long and narrow place that is also known as “unagi-no-nedoko (eel bed)”. There are some yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns) that have a storehouse on their grounds, where the parts and the kesohin of Yamahoko float are stored. However, the situation of the kaisho (meeting hall) varies among yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns), and yamahoko-cho (yamahoko towns) such as Iwato Yama, Tokusa Yama, Ashikari Yama, Hakuga Yama, Kakkyo Yama, Araretenjin Yama ,Taishi Yama, and Moso Yama, store parts and other materials at the Gion Matsuri Yamahokokan near Yasaka Shrine. The Gion Matsuri Yamahokokan was built in 1968 and has been in use since 1970.
